Enzyme Peel & HydroPeel Microdermabrasion Treatments for Healthy Skin

Combined Therapy Treatments by Kelly Muciy

As a Co-founder of Zyderma®, skincare is obviously a major part of my life and I love it! Daily we correspond with skincare professionals and clients world-wide, educating them on the benefits of our product for people of all ages who suffer from acne prone and problem skin.

There is a growing trend within the medical skin care industry to provide patients with simple, clean and effective product options like Zyderma® which has no contraindications. Skincare professionals (MD, ND and Medical Aestheticians) have come to realize how well our Clarifying Cream works in combined therapies, as in Brigette’s Skin Care Story from Jem Glamorganic Medical Spa.

Brigette's Skin Care Story

I've read countless recommendations from our clinical Stockists about the benefits of combined therapy treatments for people with problematic skin; but, have never had the courage to put myself in the proverbial hot seat, despite knowing that my maturing skin, with visible signs of sun damage and acne scaring needed an involved approach to accomplish my skin care goals. What was holding me back? Well, to be honest I was nervous that it would be an unpleasant and painful experience.

In my last post, “Me Time at Heritage Way Medical Spa”, I was excited to have the veins on the sides of my nose removed. I did experience a slight bit of pain with the laser treatment which was manageable, and the results were amazing! A few veins returned which is normal so I had them zapped again, and I hardly felt a thing. I didn’t realize how self-conscious I'd been feeling until the veins were gone.

Feeling confident and with some courage, I booked another appointment with Heritage Way Medical Spa. They are eager to get my skin looking refreshed and glowing which I truly appreciate. Upon close inspection of my skin, Bella, a trained & certified medical aesthetician determined that my skin in addition to the aforementioned issues was quite congested and dehydrated which is not uncommon for my skin type (oily/combination). After some discussion about treatment options we formulated a plan that would leave my skin feeling fresh and decongested. Bella explained that "the layer of dead skin cells which had accumulated over the years was keeping my skin from effectively absorbing nurturing ingredients".

The Plan: Enzyme Peel & HydroPeel Microdermabrasion

There are a variety of peels for all skin types and cases. For me, the gentler the better. This combined treatment is recommended by skin care professionals for people with sensitive, mature and acneic skin.

The enzyme peel I received was derived from papaya. It’s a gentle chemical exfoliating process that breaks down the hardened layer of dead skin cells that forms on the surface of the skin and contributes to clogged pores. I’m happy to report that there was no discomfort other than what I experienced during the extraction of some deeply embedded milia. Thankfully, I’d had the peel beforehand which made the extraction easier. At this point, I'm wondering what I'd been so afraid of?

Following the enzyme peel, I experienced a HydroPeel, an ultrasonic microdermabrasion which was also painless! This process uses a power wash of water and a guided spatula activated by ultrasound waves to lift the dry skin cells off the skin and clean out pores. Goodbye black heads, white heads and sebaceous plugs! This water treatment also helps to hydrate the “new” skin cells which my dry skin desperately needed.

Admittedly, I was somewhat tense throughout the process waiting for the pain to come, but surprisingly it didn’t! It shouldn't have been a surprise though because I was assured beforehand that it wouldn't.

Then it came time to complete my session with a mask. Ah! Now that was relaxing. My skin was treated to a white clay and algae mask. These ingredients are wonderful. White Clay: pore refining and mineral boosting. Algae: calming, hydrating and revitalizing. As I lay still in the darkened treatment room with lovely spa music playing quietly in the background, I had time to reflect on my busy life and realized that I really do need to schedule more "Me Time".

The benefits of combined therapy treatments like this include increased collagen production, a reduction of wrinkle lines, a smoothened texture, evening out of skin tone and clearer pores. I truly wish I’d taken pics of my pores before and after but I didn’t realize how effective it would be! My skin feels AW-mazing!

Continuing good skincare at home includes using our Clarifying Cream with MicroSilver BG™, which cleanses the epidermis from skin straining microorganisms, bacteria and germs – which can all lead to problem skin.

Skincare professionals recommend 3-5 additional treatments every few weeks to maximize the benefits and to fully reveal younger fresher looking skin. Realizing that my fear had been holding me back for years, I vowed not to let that happen again. My next appointment is already booked, a chemical peel. Yup! I’m all in for great looking skin.

Thank you, Heritage Way Medical Spa for taking such good care of me! xoxoxo
